Riverview’s New Upcoming Buildings Featured in the Spokane Journal of Business – the Heights and the Crest!

With the addition of a second building to Riverview’s upcoming expansion, the Spokane Journal of Business featured an article about Riverview Retirement Community to highlight some updated project details!

As previously reported in May, Riverview announced plans for The Heights, a four-story, 82-unit independent living building. Now, The Crest has been added as an additional new building. Soon to be located at the southwest corner of campus at 1777 E. Upriver Drive, The Crest will offer 31 condominium-style residences.

The Crest will feature five thoughtfully designed floor plans ranging from approximately 1,500 to 1,700 square feet. Homes will overlook the Spokane River and include quartz countertops, plank flooring, expansive windows, and private balconies.

The updated planned development, valued at $99 million, is scheduled to begin construction in April. Together, The Heights and The Crest will add 113 total independent living apartments and condominiums to the Riverview campus. As a nonprofit organization, Riverview’s project is supported by a bond through the Washington State Housing Finance Commission and an eight-year multifamily housing property tax abatement from the city of Spokane.

Riverview President and CEO Danie Monaghan is quoted in the article as saying: “The demand for senior living is tremendous, and we’re seeing more and more demand as the new generation starts to age into place. The Crest is definitely designed for more active adults. We’re focused on understanding that people who might move into The Crest may very well be employed in full-time jobs or transitioning.”

Construction contractors include Yost Gallagher Construction, LLC for The Crest and Bouten Construction Co. for The Heights. Both buildings were designed by Wattenbarger Architecture Inc. PS.

Amenities planned for The Heights include a 197-seat auditorium for performances and events, a restaurant with balcony seating overlooking the Spokane River, a bar, RiverBrew Coffee Shop, and outdoor gathering spaces featuring fire pits and a dog park.
