Yes. Riverview is a local not-for-profit 55+ continuing care retirement community with Lutheran roots, founded by the Lutheran Churches of Spokane (Missouri Synod), so it is mission-driven rather than run by a national for-profit operator.

A continuing care retirement community, or CCRC, also called a Life Plan Community, offers several levels of living and care on one campus. Riverview is an accredited Life Plan Community, CCRC Type B. Residents can start in independent living and move to assisted living, memory care or higher levels of support as their needs change, without leaving the community.

Riverview offers the full continuum of care: independent living, assisted living, memory care, outpatient therapy, home health, home care, a home for hospice, and respite care.

Yes. Because Riverview is a continuing care community, residents can transition between independent living, assisted living, memory care and additional support on the same campus as their needs change.

For independent living, Riverview offers buy-in options for homes, condos and apartments ranging from $275,000 to $725,000, with a majority of the home buy-in prices around $379,900. Riverview offers a choice of 50% or 80% buy-ins on some properties, and 12-month lease options on qualifying properties. Assisted living and memory care are priced on a month-to-month contract. Yes. Riverview accepts Medicaid in assisted living and memory care after a private pay period. The length of that period can vary, so please call 509.483.6483 to talk through your situation. Please contact us for more details.

When a retirement community is described as 'deficiency free,' it means it passed a regulatory inspection without any violations or citations. These inspections are conducted by state or federal health departments to confirm the facility meets required standards for resident care and safety, staffing and training, medication management, cleanliness and maintenance, food services, and record-keeping and administration. A deficiency-free survey indicates that, at the time of the inspection, the community met all applicable regulations and standards, which is generally considered a strong indicator of high-quality care and operations.

Riverview Retirement Community can provide care from independent living to complex assisted living.  In our assisted living building, The Terrace, you can stay in the same room as your care needs change.  We provide escorting services to meals and activities, toileting, dressing, bathing, medication management and other activities of daily living.  With a nurse on campus 24/7 we can assist with many care needs as long as the care needed is steady and predictable.   We will assess your needs prior to move in to determine your level of care, and we will continue to assess you yearly, or sooner if your situation is changing more rapidly.

Riverview Retirement Community meets, at least, the staffing guidelines set by the Department of Health and Human Services, which is based on the acuity of the residents that live with us. However, we strive to maintain a consistent staff-to-resident ratio and we are the only AL in the Spokane area that staffs a nurse 24/7.  Many of our employees have been with Riverview for at least five years.

Riverview has over 65 years of experience in senior care, including dementia and memory care. The Veranda, our separate and secure memory care building, is staffed with care providers, housekeeping, and dining services. We personalize care through individualized care plans tailored to each resident's specific needs. The Veranda's staff are seasoned professional’s adept at recognizing and responding to residents' cues. We provide adaptive care, adjusting routines to fit individual needs and preferences, such as preferred wake-up times, dressing preferences, and the level of assistance they require. While activities are often designed for group participation, they are varied to ensure that each resident has opportunities to engage in something they enjoy. These include sing-alongs, craft projects, storytelling, and movement and music-based activities. In addition to providing direct care, the Riverview Memory Care staff and RiverCare at the Veranda also offer one-on-one companionship.

Like most communities, we value family input and emphasize the importance of family participation in care meetings. We maintain an open-door policy, and friends and family are always welcome to visit, join activities, or share a meal with their loved one. Our campus provides a supportive community not just for residents with dementia, but also for their families and friends navigating this journey. We have an on-site chaplain and a campus administrator who is a certified dementia provider through the NCCDP. We also offer a dementia support group for families seeking help and answers as they adapt to the evolving needs of their loved ones. We partner with the Alzheimer's Association and hold annual fundraisers to support research aimed at finding a cure. Over time, family members often form bonds with one another, creating their own network of support within our community. In addition to these community-wide resources, we provide individualized communication with each family as needed. We also keep families informed through various channels, including phone trees, newsletters, activity calendars, weekly menus, and readily available staff and leadership to address any questions or concerns.

Aquatic therapy uses water to support movement and reduce strain on joints, which can make rehabilitation more comfortable and effective. Riverview offers it alongside physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Physical therapy is care that eases pain and helps you move and live better. It can relieve pain and tightness, improve mobility, prevent injury or surgery, aid recovery from surgery, stroke or injury, improve balance and reduce falls, manage chronic conditions like Parkinson's, and help you learn to use assistive devices and prosthetics.

Older adults and those at risk of falls should do balance training three or more days a week for at least 45 minutes to reduce falls. Our therapists work to reduce your overall fall risk by strengthening all three balance systems: somatosensory (sensation in your feet and awareness of your body in space), visual, and vestibular (inner ear). Balance is one of the four recommended types of exercise, along with strength, aerobic and flexibility.

Whether you are preparing for surgery or recovering afterward, Riverview Therapy supports your journey. Pre-operative therapy strengthens key muscles, improves flexibility and optimizes fitness to help reduce recovery time. Post-operative therapy focuses on regaining strength and mobility while managing pain, with rehabilitation following total hip and knee replacements, arthroscopic repairs, bone fracture surgeries and disc procedures, using a plan customized to you.

Home Health allows your loved one to have nursing or therapy services, called 'skilled services,' where they live now, instead of in a skilled nursing facility or a rehabilitation facility.

Your physician or discharge planner sends a referral for the services you need, along with your health and physical information. From there we schedule an assessment in your home with the right team. We work to assess you within 48 hours of receiving the doctor's orders for your care.

Usually. We bill Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid and other insurances, and we also accept private pay as an option.

Home health provides skilled services like nursing or therapy where a person lives, instead of in a facility. Home care provides non-medical help with daily living, such as personal care and companionship.

The Home for Hospice works like a bed and breakfast. Your loved one stays there in a calm, homelike setting, and hospice care is provided by a partnering agency.
