COVID Status - Message from the CEO & President Mike Drew

Dear Friends:

What an unexpected and challenging year this has been for all of us! At Riverview our staff and residents have been diligently and collaboratively working on COVID-prevention strategies. But that’s not all! We have also focused on new ways to actually thrive during this pandemic…including having old fashioned fun! I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a short list of a few of the good things that have taken place (and continue to take place) among our staff and residents. Would you join me in celebrating our shared accomplishments?

  • More Tasty Meals – Chef Tony and his team are providing “room service” meals to residents in the Terrace and Memory Care.
  • Informative Communications – Our residents and their families are enjoying THE SPLASH and THE WAVE newsletters.
  • Activities Galore – The team members in activities are providing daily games, projects and exercises that are both creative and fun!
  • Warm Family Visits – The “visitation stations” facilitate safe “in person” visits between families, friends and their loved ones.
  • A New Support Group – Our Social Services expert, Christina, recently started the “Leaving a Legacy” group to help combat depression.
  • Musical Fun around the Piano – I love meeting with our residents around a piano…playing and singing all those “Good Old Tunes”.
  • Personal Protective Equipment – Our staff is continuing to be vigilant in wearing masks, washing hands and social distancing.
  • Spiritual Care – Chaplain Yvette holds regular prayer meetings, devotional times and Bible studies even though the groups are smaller.
  • Virtual Family Visits – When “in person” visits are not possible our Activities Team facilitates Face Time visits with loved ones.
  • Holiday Celebrations – Each day of Halloween Week our staff had fun up…who knows what fun we’ll have over Thanksgiving and Christmas!
  • New Nurse Practitioner – Donna, our new full-time nurse practitioner, is building up her practice, meeting the medical needs of residents.
  • Limiting COVID Exposures – Everyone has been careful to keep COVID away from our residents as long as possible…so far it’s working!
  • Continued Therapy Services – As we wait to become a Certified Outpatient Therapy Facility, April and her team are providing therapies.
  • Incoming Deliveries – Our front desk personnel are sanitizing all those wonderful inbound shipments to residents to ensure safety.

Finally, I would like to thank all the families and friends of our residents as well as our employees for the kindness and patience they have exercised. Our hopes have been increasing that an effective vaccine will be discovered and distributed soon. We are honored to know and serve each one who has chosen to live at Riverview!

Mike Drew,
CEO & President
