COVID Status - Message from the CEO & President Mike Drew

Thank you for visiting the Riverview website…we hope that you find the information presented helpful!

The staff and management of Riverview have been working hard to help both our residents and our employees thrive while we keep them safe. Please be aware of the following initiatives that we are undertaking to achieve those objectives:COVID-19 Prevention – By October 18, 2021 all of our employees (and on-site volunteers and contractors) will be “fully vaccinated” (i.e. 14 days since their last vaccine dose), with the exception of a few that qualify for medical or religious exemptions. Riverview has been fully compliant with the prevention measures directed by the CDC, Washington State Department of Health, Governor’s Office, DSHS and the Spokane Regional Health District.

  • COVID-19 Prevention – By October 18, 2021 all of our employees (and on-site volunteers and contractors) will be “fully vaccinated” (i.e. 14 days since their last vaccine dose), with the exception of a few that qualify for medical or religious exemptions. Riverview has been fully compliant with the prevention measures directed by the CDC, Washington State Department of Health, Governor’s Office, DSHS and the Spokane Regional Health District.
  • Personal Visits – To the extent allowed by the regulatory agencies, we are encouraging personal visits from families, friends and compassionate care givers into Riverview Terrace and Memory Care. Residents are also able to go to their scheduled doctor visits and to visit their loved ones safely outside of the facility. These visits are so important to the emotional health of our residents. We work hard to advise loved ones and friends of any changes in visitation as soon as we can.
  • Communication – Every week we publish information-rich newsletters. Two times a month we publish a 6-page edition of THE WAVE and every other week it is the 2-page edition of THE SPLASH. These are filled with a wide variety of articles to keep our residents and their families up-to-date and include: stories about residents, facility improvements, upcoming calendar events, upcoming events, employee profiles, updates from our board, and one article from the President & CEO, Mike Drew.
  • Responsive Culture – Under the leadership of Mike Drew, President & CEO, employees work collaboratively to address issues and pursue new opportunities. When residents share an idea or concern or request for service, Riverview leaders respond promptly always “trying to find the way to yes”. Employees enjoy working at Riverview because they are respected and carefully listened to.
  • Enhanced Assisted Living – Our Terrace Building can accommodate up to about 140 residents. Since we are able to admit some residents with greater needs, we schedule licensed nurses 24/7 around the clock. Our assisted living program features a Resident Store called “The Little Store”, a Chapel with a full-time Chaplain and a nearby coffee shop called “RiverBrew”. Our recreational therapists provide a wide variety of activities to our residents.
  • Aquatic and Fitness Center – Our Aquatic and Fitness Center is currently open to all Riverview residents. It includes an indoor walking track (can be used year-round), a fitness room, a lap pool, a lazy river, a therapy pool and a large hot tub. This building is easily accessible to all Terrace residents without having to ever go outside.
  • Memory Care Facility – We have a spacious new Memory Care building that was opened in November 2018. It is licensed to serve a maximum of 24 residents in 20 rooms (4 of the larger rooms can accommodate couples). In addition to strong clinical staffing, a full-time recreation therapist serves residents with a variety of activities. There is only one simple monthly fee for Memory Care services.
  • Riverview Workshop – The Riverview workshop is open year-round. It contains 3 large lathes, 4 small lathes, a band saw and other equipment that is important to woodworking, arts and crafts. Men and women alike are involved in a variety of projects at the workshop. Riverview Workshop markets its products in “The Little Store” and at two large sales each year.
  • Independent Living Homes – The 164 independent living homes in Riverview Village are made up of condominium-type buildings, 4-plexes, 3-plexes, 2-plexes and stand-alone units. Village residents enjoy the free use of all of Riverview’s amenities! All the outside responsibilities are taken care of including: 24/7 security, gardening, snow removal, etc.

Finally, I would like to thank all the families and friends of our residents as well as our employees for the kindness and patience they have exercised. We are honored to know and serve each one who has chosen to live at Riverview!

Sincerely,

Mike Drew,
CEO & President
