Aquatics & Fitness

Sure we're extra proud of our state-of-the-art Fitness and Aquatics Center that is adored by residents and grandkids alike. But that is just the beginning of the amenities you'll enjoy here. Riverview offers many lifestyle choices including regular fitness programs using our indoor walking course and full exercise studio, musical experiences, creative woodworking opportunities, and a full time chaplain for spiritual needs.

Our new, state-of-the-art Fitness and Aquatics Center is truly enviable. It includes:

Pools

Fun and therapeutic, our water features include a lazy river, lap pool, therapy pool and swim instructor-guided classes.

Spa

The spa at Riverview Retirement Community is the perfect place to unwind after a walk, exercise class or swim.

Indoor Walking Track

Mother nature has nothing on our Riverview Community Residents! When the weather prohibits walking outside, come inside to the walking track and do some laps as you watch the rain fall, wind blow and snow flurry.

Exercise Studio

Equipped with state-of-the-art cardio and strength machines with easy-to-use weights, a ballet bar and more, the fitness center makes getting and staying fit and strong accessible to all.  With equipment that is simple and easy to use, including recumbent bikes, recumbent elliptical machines, and resistance training, Riverview offers a large array of fitness equipment to help improve balance, strength and friendships!

Dining & Celebrations

One of the best parts of retirement community living is leaving the cooking (and dishes!) to us. The Terrace Dining room offers delicious and nutritious meals for residents and is a gathering place. Dining specialties include prime rib, seafood, candlelight and wine nights, and theme dinners residents love.

Entertainment

You've heard the saying "there's never a dull moment" - it's certainly true here! We've got music - pianists, guitarists, fiddlers, violinists, harp players, accordion players, and a handbell choir. And we've got dancing - Scottish Country Dancers, Square Dancers, Ball Room Dancers, Hula Dancers, Cloggers, Line Dancers and Ballet Dancers. And don't forget the variety - Dancing Dogs, Hat Lady, Star Gazer Telescope, magicians, comedians, musical activities, art activities, play acts and many more!  The Riverview Retirement Community Resident Enrichment Coordinator is well connected throughout Spokane, and brings the symphony to us, as well as schedules outings to many of the amazing local Spokane eateries, plays, and events.

Excursions

Our 15-passenger vans take us to some amazing places. We make the most of what the great Northwest has to offer. From short half hour drives, to all-day trips and longer, we go on some amazing journeys. Day trips to Palouse, Winthrop, Toppenish, Walla Walla and Leavenworth; meal outings to Priest Lake, Coulee Dam, Sandpoint and Coeur d'Alene; river rafting on the Clark Fork, Alberton Gorge and Clear Water; cruises down the St. Joe River, Spokane River, Clark Fork Delta and on Lake Pend Oreille – just to name a few.

And, you get a say in where we go! Museum tours, shopping trips, casino days and train rides are just some of the outings residents help plan.

Gardening

Thirty-two acres and raised beds offer plenty of gardening opportunities for those who want to get their hands dirty. Our Riverview campus gardens even have rosebushes planted in 1959! We eat what we grow and even donate surplus harvest to the Women's and Children's Free Restaurant. Green thumbs are welcome, but not necessary.  In 2024 Riverview Retirement Community will be adding a resident bee keeper and their hives!

Music & Art

From going to see the latest exhibits at the MAC Museum to the Spokane Symphony's electrifying concerts, Riverview residents enjoy the best in music and art! We attend Coeur d'Alene and Civic Theatre plays, Best of Broadway, and productions by area schools and colleges.

And sometimes you don't just watch the show, you are the show! You can listen to or be part of the "Riverview Handbells and Chimes" and "Riversong Choir." We also host an annual Talent Show, an Arts, Crafts & Hobbies Festival, Sing-A-Longs, musical concerts, Name that Tune games, watercolor painting, and more where residents showcase their emerging or refined talents.

The Workshop

On any given day you'll see amazing creations coming to life in the Riverview Retirement Community workshop. Pens, bowls, rocking chairs and cheese platters are just some of the products being hand-crafted. Lathes, jigsaws, table saws and more are ready to help you invent. Everyone is welcome, from Master Woodworkers to eager beginners, and this wood turning hobby is fun and challenging at the same time. Woodworking stretches both the mind and muscles, and you'll find many ladies enjoying this space alongside the guys you might expect.  With an on-site trainer, you can have all your challenging, and beginners' questions answered by a skilled professional.

Riverview Community Workshop Introduction

Chapel / Chaplain

Our mission statement emphasizes that Riverview Retirement Community "provides healthcare, housing and services in a Christ-centered environment… in order to help enhance a person's quality of life." Our full-time Chaplain supports the spiritual health of all residents, staff and resident families of all faiths. Chaplain Yvette Schock is an ordained pastor on staff from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Pastoral calls can be made day or night.

Pets

It doesn't take long for pets to become part of the family. Science even suggests there are health benefits to being a pet owner. Here at Riverview Retirement Community one small pet, including cats and dogs per home is welcome in all of our independent and assisted living homes and apartments. We ask that all pets (including cats) be on a leash when outside and that you kindly clean up after them.
